Frequently Asked Questions

What is Limen?

Limen is a simple heart rate zone training app. You start a workout on your Apple Watch, see which of five training zones you’re in as you train, and review your history and performance on your iPhone afterwards.

Which devices do I need?

You need an iPhone and an Apple Watch paired to it. Workouts are started and tracked on the Watch. The iPhone app is for setup, history, and progress.

How are my heart rate zones calculated?

Zones are calculated as a percentage of your maximum heart rate. By default, Limen estimates your max HR as 220 - age. You can adjust your age and weight in Settings at any time, and the zones will update.

What are Burn Points?

Burn Points are a simple measure of workout intensity. You earn them for time spent in the harder zones (Target and Max). Aim for 12 to 20 Burn Points per workout. The harder zones also trigger the afterburn effect (EPOC), so your body keeps burning calories for hours after you stop.

Does Limen need access to Apple Health?

Yes. Limen uses HealthKit to read your heart rate during workouts and to pre-fill your age and weight during onboarding. The Watch also saves each finished workout to Apple Health so you can see it alongside your other activity. You can review and change these permissions any time in the Health app under Sharing > Apps and Services > Limen.

How do my Watch workouts get to my iPhone?

Through Apple Health. When you finish a workout on your Apple Watch, it is saved to Apple Health, and the iPhone app reads it from there. No internet connection is needed.

Does Limen work without an internet connection?

Yes. Workouts are tracked locally on your Apple Watch and synced through Apple Health. No internet connection is required to train or review your history.

Does Limen track my location or use GPS?

No. Limen focuses on heart rate and intensity. It does not record GPS, routes, pace, or distance.

What languages does Limen support?

English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, and French. Limen follows your iPhone’s language setting.

What does the Tip Jar do?

Limen is free to use. The Tip Jar lets you support development with a one-time, non-recurring tip. Tips are processed by Apple via In-App Purchase. They are completely optional and do not unlock any features.

I opened the Tip Jar but it says “no products available.” What happened?

This usually means the App Store could not be reached. Check your internet connection, make sure you are signed in to the App Store, and try again. If it keeps happening, please email me.

How do I request a refund for a tip?

Tips are processed by Apple, so refunds need to go through Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Where is my data stored?

Workout data is stored in Apple Health and your iPhone’s local storage. Limen does not run a backend server and does not collect analytics or personal data.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

The fastest way is to email alina.iosdev@gmail.com. Please include:

Screenshots or a screen recording help a lot.
